During a recent customer care visit to Liaoning Academy of Materials in Shenyang, Dr Krish Narain, Micro Materials Ltd’s Director of Business Development, enjoyed the privilege of meeting Professor Yan, Professor Du, Dr Ai and Dr Chen, a group of scientists whose depth of technical expertise he found truly impressive.
With its strong emphasis on open communication and close collaboration with suppliers and with academic partners, the Academy plays a vital role in advancing materials research on a global scale.
Located in the northeastern city of Shenyang, approx. 390 miles from Beijing, the Liaoning Academy of Materials focuses on the cross-scale behaviour of materials, from the atomic scale and micro/nano scale to the macroscopic scale, centred around the characterization and evaluation of the composition, microstructure, physical and chemical properties of materials, their mechanical performance, and behaviour under in-service conditions.
It aims to form a comprehensive, “one-stop” analytical and testing resource that features advanced facilities, leading technologies, efficient operations, and open sharing.
The NanoTest Xtreme nanomechanical test platform recently supplied by Micro Materials Ltd to the Academy is already being used for research into, for example,
✅ super alloys and
✅ new semi-conductor materials.
As the most flexible multi-load range, high-vacuum nanomechanical testing platform commercially available, the #NanoTest Xtreme offers unparalleled capabilities in:
- Nanoindentation
- Scratch and wear testing
- Friction measurement
- High strain rate impact testing
- High-temperature testing, up to and exceeding 1000°C
