Fretting wear of lubricated DLC coating systems 

is the title of a new paper co-authored by Ben Beake, Micro Materials Ltd's Director of Materials Development, Samuel McMaster, Tomasz Liskiewicz and Shahriar Kosarieh, which has just been published in the journal

Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering.

The study provides insights into the lubricated fretting performance of DLC coatings, showing that these coatings can perform well, with the potential for further improvements, when the lubricant is optimised.

This can improve the performance of, for example, automotive components such as high pressure bearings and gears.
