2012 marks the twentieth anniversary of the appointment of Dr Stephen Goodes to Micro Materials Limited.
A physicist with a strong engineering background, Stephen joined Micro Materials in 1992 following a post-doctoral position at Aberystwyth University. At that time, he embarked on the Government’s Teaching Company Scheme, which aimed to introduce academic expertise to small businesses.
Stephen has since been responsible for designing most of the electronics controlling the instrumentation at Micro Materials, as well as designing and writing all of its control and analysis software.
As Director of Instrument Development, Stephen drives the ongoing improvement and innovation of Micro Materials’ instrumentation and oversees expansion into emerging nanotechnology application areas. His ongoing vision for Micro Materials is to continue improving the performance of the instrumentation, whilst expanding the application capabilities by employing the latest technologies to ensure its accuracy, reliability and relevance to today’s nano-technology industries and researchers.
