MML Staff
The MML staff group comprises a wealth of knowledge in the field of nanomechanical testing. Our highly experienced production team travel the world to carry out installations, upgrades and servicing at customer sites.
MML also have customer service & support centres in Germany, Russia, India, China, Singapore, Malaysia and the US.

MML Management Team
Paul Grasske, Managing Director
Paul graduated with a degree in Mathematics at the University of York, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Grant Thornton. Following a period as Finance Director in several medium sized companies, Paul joined the Board of Micro Materials in 1996. He has successfully overseen the growth of MML over the past ten years.
Dr. Ben Beake, Director of Materials Research
After a degree and PhD (1994) in Chemistry both from the University of Exeter, Ben worked at the Universities of Hull, Nottingham and UMIST, before joining Micro Materials as an Applications Scientist in 1999.
He was promoted to Director of Materials Research in April 2006 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Nanotechnology.
Dr. Jim Smith, Founder and Technical Consultant
As the founder of MML, Jim has provided the technical creativity behind the MML NanoTest system since MML started business in 1988. He has collaborated on a wide range of highly innovative projects with a number of our user sites around the globe. Jim is widely acknowledged as a leading figure in the field of nanoindentation.
Dr. Stephen Goodes, Head of Development
Steve completed a BSc in Physics and Computer Science from the University of Aberystwyth, and continued to complete a PhD in the area of non-destructive characterisation.
Following a post-doc appointment, Steve joined MML in 1992 and since that time has had a leading role in the development of the NanoTest system, in particular the software and associated electronics.
Denise Hoban, International Business Development Manager
Denise graduated from UMIST with a Masters degree in Physics, and went on to study for her MSc at the University of Birmingham. Following graduation Denise worked as a physicist in the radiation sector, where she achieved Chartered Scientist status. She joined MML in Nov 2006.
