Nick celebrates 20 years with MML
This week NanoTest engineer Nick Pickford celebrates 20 years with Micro Materials Ltd. Nick became MML’s first full-time employee on July 2nd 1990, hired by the then-owner and original developer of the NanoTest, Dr Jim Smith. Nick carried out his first NanoTest installation in Paris in 1991 and since then has travelled the world with MML, working with MML customers in all corners of the Americas, Asia and Europe.

Nick Pickford celebrates 20 years

MML Managing Director Paul Grasske said ‘MML are lucky to have such a talented and conscientious engineer on our staff. His experience in the field is invaluable to both MML and our customer base, and we thank Nick for his dedication over the years.’

Today Nick is the most senior member of the MML production staff, providing valuable input to both the continued development and production of the NanoTest instrument. He acts as a mentor for other NanoTest engineers, setting a high standard in both his engineering work and his approach to customer support.

Established in 1988 Micro Materials Ltd are manufacturers of the innovative NanoTest system, which offers unique nanomechanical test capability to materials researchers for the characterisation and optimisation of thin films, coatings and bulk materials. Techniques include nanoindentation, nano-scratch & wear, nano-impact & fatigue and nano-fretting.
